A wildfire burned approximately two acres in the Round Hill area Friday afternoon.

The fire started about 4 p.m. between Elks Point Road and Sewer Plant Road on U.S. Forest Service land, said agency spokeswoman Cheva Heck.

Although there are structures in the area of the fire, none were threatened and evacuations were not required, Heck said.

Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and Lake Valley Fire Protection District had the fire largely under control by 5 p.m., Heck said Friday evening. As long as winds did not pick up, full containment was expected by 8 p.m.

A CalFire air tanker, as well as Forest Service helicopters, were also used to battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District spokesman Eric Guevin said the fire appears to be suspicious and human caused.
