The Friends of the Library will conduct their “2005 Summer Book and Craft Sale with Live Music” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 13. The event will take place in the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library conference room, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

The used book sale will include hard-bound, paperback and some children’s books. There also will be a limited number of VHS, DVDs and books on tape. Prior to the public sale, there will be a preview from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 12 available free to members of the South Lake Tahoe Friends of the Library and to people who pay a $5 admission fee. Memberships to the Friends of the Library will be available at the preview.

Nine local artisans will be selling handcrafted items such as handmade bookmarks, coin jewelry, woodworks, musical instruments and hand-dyed fabrics. Proceeds will benefit the library. Live music will be provided by David Blonski and various numbered Thomas Kinkade prints and gift items will be available.

The library is accepting donations of books and audio-visual material for the sale. Materials must be in good condition and have a copyright date no later than 2000. Anyone interested in helping with the book sale should contact the library at (530) 573-3185.
