Searchers checking airports for overdue aircraft

Douglas County Search & Rescue looking for an overdue pilot out of Minden-Tahoe Airport.Searchers are contacting surrounding airports looking for Minden resident Keith Jorgensen, 46, who took off for a local flight 5 p.m. Wednesday, and has not been heard from, according to Undersheriff Paul Howell.Jorgensen was the sole occupant of the plane.”It is reported that Jorgensen had planned to return to the airport by dark, however he never returned,” Sgt. Jim Halsey said. “A check of surrounding airports in Carson City and Mono County revealed that Jorgensen did not land there either. Lyon County is currently checking.”The red and white Cessna 172 is owned by Gardnerville resident James McFadden, according to the Federal Aviation Administration The tail number is N328SP. A Minden-Tahoe Airport spokesman said no flight plan was filed. No report of an emergency locator transmitter activation has been reported.Jorgensen and his wife, Rhonda, purchased Flying Start Aero last year.
