Silk paintings to be on display

Local artist and teacher Addie Chernus will present a one-woman show at Wyland Galleries in South Lake Tahoe.

Chernus’ silk paintings will be on display Nov. 9 from 3-7 p.m., Nov. 10 from 2-6 p.m. and Nov. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at the gallery, located at 4000 Lake Tahoe Blvd. She will demonstrate her colorful techniques of painting on silk. Refreshments will be served.

Her silk art has been exhibited at the national level including a silk painting showing in the Smithsonian Museum. She has been active teaching workshops around the country. Other artistic activities include being a member of Tahoe Art League, a mural painter, helping to create The Lake Tahoe Festival of Fine Arts, painting a 6-foot-tall bear for Tahoe Visitors Authority, being the author of Addie Silk Art: Silk Painting Lessons, plus a Silk Lessons DVD. She writes a column for Silk Painters International.
