South Lake man who shot himself identified

Staff Report

A South Lake Tahoe man who shot himself in the head on Saturday night has been identified as Perry Russell Coe, 50, according to El Dorado County Sheriff’s Lt. Pete Van Arnum.

Coe lives near Brockaway Avenue near the intersection of Rubicon Trail.

South Lake Tahoe Police spokesman Lt. Brian Williams said police received several 911 calls and found the victim in the incident uninjured.

The victim told officers he confronted the suspect at the suspect’s doorstep to discuss his vehicle being damaged. The suspect drew a revolver and aimed it at the victim. The victim immediately turned and began to run away. He then heard one shot fired as he made his escape. The victim and witnesses believed the suspect may have fled the immediate area on foot.

South Lake Tahoe Police Officers were assisted by El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers with setting up a perimeter and a K9 track for the suspect.
