South Tahoe man arrested in sex crime

A 26-year-old South Lake Tahoe man is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Alfredo Huerta was arrested at 11:13 a.m. Sunday on Spruce Avenue after South Lake Tahoe police officers were tipped to the alleged crime. The victim is reported to be 16. Huerta was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and parole violations, a police officer said.

He tried to evade officers by walking into another apartment. When officers located him, he gave a false name. Once he was arrested, he didn’t make any statements, the officer said.

n Officers responded to 1812 Ski Run Blvd. after a man described as looking “creepy” looked into windows of the business and acted suspicious.

n A 23-year-old woman was arrested Sunday on charges of driving under the influence after she allegedly sped through the casino corridor on Highway 50 with a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy following her with his lights flashing.

The suspect, who was going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone, was stopped at 3979 Lake Tahoe Blvd. by the deputy, who called for assistance from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, authorities said.

The woman’s breath smelled of alcohol and she was asked to perform a roadside test. After she was taken into custody tests showed she had a blood alcohol level of 0.12, police said.

n A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday on charges of driving without a valid license, after being stopped by South Lake Tahoe officers.

The man was pulled over at 11:56 p.m. on Washington Avenue because he was driving a Dodge pickup without a valid license plate, a police officer said. The man told the arresting officer that he didn’t have a valid license and that he had an outstanding warrant.
