Lady Coyotes overwhelm College of Redwoods

Graciela Palencia and Kenya Maltase each scored two goals, while Melanie Ara, Rebecca Niblett and Annie Brejc each had a goal and an assist Tuesday in helping lead the Lake Tahoe Community College women's soccer team to a 10-0 Golden Valley Conference road win over College of Redwoods in Redding.

Eight different players scored for the Lady Coyotes, who won their sixth straight game and shutout an opponent for the 10th time this season.

Zareli Villa, Jenny Camacho and Mylene Moran also scored, while Jazmine Corvalan, Sydney Woodward, Madison Boyd and Emma Dayberry added assists.

"We have so many different goal scorers and playmakers, and although I knew we had them the entire time, they are all blossoming at the right time," said Coyotes head coach Jeremy Evans. "We are scoring from all positions and in different ways. As a coach it's a beautiful thing to witness because our players are so unselfish and simply want the team to succeed."

Maltase (10 goals, 4 assists, 24 points), a South Tahoe graduate, and Truckee High graduate Villa (9 goals, 2 assists, 20 points) both are ranked among the top 20 scorers in California. Goalkeeper and South Tahoe graduate Claudia Janese's .43 goals against average is among the top five in California for keepers starting at least 10 games.

The Coyotes (9-2-3, 5-0 GVC) have yet to surrender a goal to a GVC team in five games and have outscored their opponents 38-0.
