NFL Youth Flag Football League sign ups

The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registration for the NFL Youth Flag Football League until team rosters are full. NFL Flag Football teaches boys and girls the fundamentals of football, good sportsmanship, and teamwork in a fun, less-competitive, non-contact way. Since every player is eligible to receive or carry the ball, any player on a team could score on any play. Players receive a reversible NFL flag jersey, mouthpiece, and individual award.

All games will be played on Saturdays at Stodick Park. Participants will be divided into four age groups, 5-6 coed, 7-8 coed, 9-11 coed, and 12-14 coed. Players must be at least 6 and not 15 by Sept 1. Coaches will randomly choose teams through a draft system. Spaces are limited. For additional information visit http://www.dcprsports.com or contact Anthony Davis, adavis@co.douglas.nv.us or the Douglas County Parks & Recreation (775) 782-9828. The league is also looking for paid officials ages 16 or older. For referee training contact Mark Waggoner, UIC 775-741-1594.

South Tahoe to hold cheer and dance team tryouts

During the clinic, potential cheerleaders and dancers will be taught the tryout material.

All potential cheerleaders and dancers must fill out fall athletic clearance paperwork. Incoming freshmen must have a physical and concussion test. Concussion tests can be done online at home.
