South Tahoe Futbol Club has a new way for local youth soccer players to get on the pitch. The South Shore club created an academy program open to all players in the area ages 5-18, and the first session starts Friday, July 22.

“This is a great program we have developed for all the community, to help the kids develop and progress quicker,” said STFC director of coaching Nick Arbelaez, who will head the program along with Brandon Garinger.

The program is split into two age groups — the Development Academy for players U-5 to U-10, and the Elite Academy for those U-11 to U-18. Sessions will be held on Fridays, with the Development Academy running from 4-5 p.m. and the Elite Academy going from 5:15-6:15 p.m.

The first session begins July 22 at South Tahoe Middle School, and the second session is scheduled to start Sept. 9 at either STMS or Lake Tahoe Community College. Each is limited to the first 36 paid participants, and designed for both club and AYSO players.

Cost per player for the program is $90 for six weeks and $160 for 12 weeks. For more information, email stfcacademy@gmail.com, or contact Arbelaez at 702-334-2492 or by emailing nrarbelaez@ltcc.edu.
