Women’s Cycling Association celebrating Amgen Tour with local events

The Women's Cycling Association is hosting a number of events to celebrate the sport leading up to and during the Amgen Tour of California women's race in South Lake Tahoe — and spectators can join WCA in its Women's Lounge at the Amgen Tour of California Festival expo. WCA's schedule of events during the race:

Friday 11 a.m. — Stage 1 of the race

WCA members can receive a discount code online for VIP access and viewing of the start and finish for Friday and Saturday. The package includes access to VIP access tent, brunch and hosted bar.

Friday 6:30 p.m. — Screening of "Personal Gold" at LTCC

WCA will hold a private screening of "Personal Gold" at Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre. Olympic medalist Dotsie Bausch and Olympian Inga Thompson will join Olympian and film producer Tamara Christopherson for a post-screening question and answer.

Lake Tahoe Community College is located at 1 College Dr. in South Lake Tahoe. Cost to attend is $10 and proceeds benefit WCA and Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation.

Saturday 7:15 a.m. — Group ride of race course

Join the WCA along with Bausch and Thompson for a group ride on the Amgen Tour of California women's race course around beautiful Lake Tahoe. Experience the same twisting descents, fast straights and stunning views as the pros will.

Registration starts at 7:15 a.m. and runs until 8 a.m., with the race starting promptly after. Participants will ride through the official finish line at 9:15 a.m. before watching the pros sign in and prep for the start of Stage 2.

Saturday 11 a.m. — Stage 2 of the race
