Spring fling dance at Kahle

Jim Grant/Tahoe Daily TribuneThe Tahoe Dance Band will provide music for listening and dancing Saturday during the Senior Spring Fling at Kahle Community Center.

The first Senior Spring Fling dance offered through the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department will take place from 7:30 to 10 p.m. May 17 at Kahle Community Center, 236 Kingsbury Grade. The cost is $6 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine and coffee.

The event will consist of dancing to the big band sounds of the Tahoe Dance Band, which originated in Al and Ruth Smith’s garage six years ago and has quite a following. People are know, to come from Reno, Incline Village, Virginia City and Carson City to hear the sounds of the band and practice their dance steps.

It isn’t necessary to be a dance enthusiast to enjoy some social interaction with friends. Several businesses in the community have donated fantastic prizes that will be offered as door giveaways and raffles. Every guest will receive a complimentary day pass to Kahle Community Center, which includes use of the gymnasium and fitness center.

Dress is casual. All senior adults are welcome, but any adult interested in big band dance sounds should plan on attending.
