In April, St. Theresa School held its annual speech contest for the seventh and eighth grades. The topic this year was “An American Invention.” Out of 40 students who competed, eight students were selected as finalists. The winner was seventh-grader Zach Merliss, who spoke on the invention of alternating current. Second place was awarded to Katherine Garrett, also a seventh grader, who spoke about the invention of the Polaroid camera. Third place went to Zach Kropf, an eight grader, who spoke about the invention of the zipper.
