A week of children’s theater comes to the South Shore with a performing arts workshop for children 5 to 15.

The workshop will take place from 9:15 a.m. to noon Aug. 8-12 and will focus on acting skills, singing and dancing.

Participants will work on improvisation, audition skills, script reading, and songs and dances from a variety of musicals.

Former South Tahoe resident Lucas Pakes will direct various aspects of the workshop. Pakes received his degree in theater with an emphasis in education from Cal State Fullerton. He interned in London, working with renowned producers.

While Pakes was growing up on the South Shore, he was featured in leading roles in children’s theater through high school. He will be joined by guest instructors including professional choreographer Bryant Cash Welsh, whose recent work includes musicals in the Bay Area.

“Every summer while I was growing up, the South Tahoe Children’s Theater Company put on wonderful productions. Everyone who participated learned so much and had a great time doing it. I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned with this generation of young actors,” Pakes said.

The workshop will be conducted at the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, 2107 James Ave. Registration will be accepted the first day of the workshop or by calling (530) 541-7211.
