Man rolled over by his own car, taken to hospital

A South Shore man was taken to the hospital by helicopter Friday, after his own vehicle rolled over him and dragged him into the street, authorities said.

The unidentified man had just parked his vehicle when, for unknown reasons, it started to roll, trapping the man under the vehicle, said Sgt. Michael Seligsohn of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on Gold Dust Trail shortly before 5 p.m. Lake Valley Fire Protection District, CALSTAR and the sheriff’s office were among the agencies that responded.

Firefighters were the first to respond on scene, using Jaws of Life in the rescue effort.

A helicopter landed near Pioneer Trail and Black Bart Avenue to take the patient out of the area. It is unknown where the man was taken or the extent of his injuries.

Traffic was backed up on Pioneer Trail and Black Bart Avenue during the incident, but is now moving.

Information will be updated as it becomes available.
