Today's activity: Family hike to Horsetail Falls.
Conditions: One of the most popular hikes in the Lake Tahoe area is Horsetail Falls. On the Hill's Lou Friedman, along with his wife and son, give us a great look at just why this hike is a must-see activity. An easy-to-moderate hike that's 1 1/4 miles long, it's a short drive from Tahoe. Lou went up when it was a gorgeous 70 degree day, and it took about an hour up and half hour back, and the views at the end are so worth it.
Getting there: Driving west from South Lake Tahoe on Hwy 50, the trailhead begins two miles east of Strawberry, at the Twin Bridges parking lot. After parking, follow the signs to the wilderness boundary. There, you’ll need to fill out a permit to continue up to the waterfall, since Horsetail once again heads into the Desolation Wilderness.
Today's weather: Another warm day in the Tahoe area, with temps in the high 80s with light winds and afternoon thundershowers possible. — National Weather Service
