TRPA spokeswoman makes decision to resign
March 21, 2003
A spokeswoman at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for more than 12 years announced her resignation this week.
Pam Drum, 45, said with the agency’s Executive Director Juan Palma on his way out, it is a good time to move on.
“I’ll be there through next week,” said Drum, by phone from her Reno home. “I’ve been through three executive directors and it’s just a period of transition for the organization and a good time for me. This has been planned. This isn’t sudden.”
Drum moved to the Tahoe area in 1984. She worked as news reporter and producer at KOLO Channel 8 in Reno and prior to that worked as news director at KOWL in South Lake Tahoe. Drum said she plans to stay in the area and remain involved with environmental issues.
“This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while,” Drum said. “It was not an easy decision. It’s a labor of love no question about that. I consider myself fortunate to have gotten paid to advance a cause I believe in.”
Drum said her last day will be next Friday and that with the agency in the process of moving its office to Kingsbury Grade her week will be a busy one. Her immediate plans involve attending to family business needs in the Midwest.
