Two teens charged with burglary, vandalism

South Lake Tahoe Police DepartmentPolice conducting a probation search arrested two teens and discovered spray paint and markers used for graffiti. The items had been stolen from a local art supply story, police said.

Police arrested two juveniles and are looking for one more after they allegedly discovered the boys hiding in a closet and stolen spray paint and markers used for graffiti during a probation search.

On Sept. 7, police responded to a burglary at an art supply store in South Lake Tahoe. During the investigation, officers were told that cash and about $3,000 worth of spray paint and markers had been stolen. On Sept. 8, police received calls from victims stating that buildings, signs and vehicles had been tagged with graffiti. The damage to property was estimated to be thousands of dollars.

Investigators received information that led to a home on Silver Dollar Avenue, police said. They conducted a probation search of the residence and reportedly found two boys, ages 16 and 15, hiding in a closet. They also located spray paint and markers taken during the burglary, police said. The boys admitted to being involved in the burglary and one admitted to tagging buildings, signs and vehicles, police said. Police are still looking for a third juvenile who was allegedly involved.
