Bring your picnic basket, lawn chairs and sunscreen and relax under the large ponderosa pines near the shoreline of Lake Tahoe.

This week we are featuring local favorite Niall McGuinness.

McGuinness and Bob Greenwood have been making music together for more than 20 years, performing freshly arranged jazz standards as well as their own original compositions. Niall is featured on saxophones, flute and percussion, and Bob plays electric piano and keyboard bass.

Niall also sings tunes from the American Songbook, and Bob can be heard covering the songs of Michael Franks to Ray Charles.

The show is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 on the Valhalla Grand Lawn. This event is free to the public. Donations are requested.

We are so excited to have String Beings this year performing in our Boathouse Theater.

The String Beings started playing as a group in 1982. Since then they have grown in popularity and experience. Leader and supreme Being Van Vinikow has assembled a diverse repertoire that includes popular classical music and classic popular music styles.

Treat yourself, friends, and family to an amazing evening of music in the Boathouse Theater at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21. Advance tickets are $18. The are $20 at the door.

We are thrilled to welcome back Artist in Residence Kit Night.

Kit is an award-winning painter and member of Oil Painters of America.

She’s known for her uplifting and radiant color.

Her work, which is influenced by jazz, redefines how we think of contemporary still life, which includes large oils of glasses.

She will also be showing smaller work in a variety of subjects including some new plein air landscapes. Come see Kit’s amazing work from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 16-20 in the Grand Hall.
