El Dorado County Habitat for Humanity’s “A Brush with Kindness” (ABWK), in South Lake Tahoe, is seeking volunteers to assist with summer projects. ABWK serves low-income homeowners in the area who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes; they strive to ensure families live in safe, well-maintained homes.

Volunteers are sought to assist the many qualified low-income homeowners who need exterior maintenance work on their homes that could include painting, minor exterior repairs, yard cleanup, and minimal landscaping. ABWK is also seeking volunteers with specific skills in carpentry, painting and general home maintenance. In addition, ABWK is looking for qualified volunteers to help supervise and train unskilled volunteers, coordinate the work and supplies for the project, and ensure that volunteers comply with safe work practices and maintain quality control of the work.

Volunteer applications are currently being accepted by calling April Stinson at 916-955-8231, leaving a message at 530-544-2620, or emailing sltahoehabitat@yahoo.com. Following the receipt of an application, volunteers will be invited to an orientation meeting to be held in mid-May. The meeting will provide an opportunity for volunteers to learn more about ABWK and upcoming summer projects. Volunteers will also have an opportunity to sign up for specific calendared projects that best meet their schedule and interests.
