Wednesday’s forecast: Hazy and warm weather to continue today
June 25, 2008
More sunshine and warm weather will remain across our region again today along with a continuation of the smoke and haze.
A few clouds will begin to show up by afternoon and even the remote possibility of a late day thunderstorm mainly south of Hope Valley in Alpine county.
High temperatures today should continue reaching the upper 70s to mid 80s across the board except for upper 60s at the 8000 foot level along the Sierra. Winds will be light with lake breezes around the shoreline of Lake Tahoe giving way to westerly winds by mid to late afternoon in the 10 to 15 mph range.
Under hazy skies tonight’s lows will drop into the mid 30s around Truckee and Meyers with 40s to near 50 everywhere else with the warmest overnight lows in the typical warmer locations on the north and east shores of the lake.
Thunderstorm chances will be increasing from Thursday onwards so keep an eye to the sky if you are going to be planning any outdoor activities. The hazy conditions will likely persist until around Friday when a change in the winds aloft should begin to filter out much of the smoke.
