What’s happening

A special free showing of the award-winning documentary film, “A Cow at My Table,” has been scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Tahoe Community College theater.

The feature documentary is about farm animals, meat and the agribusiness vs. animal rights battle. The 81-minute color film was released in 1998.

Booksigning set for Saturday



Author Kathleen Delaney will sign copies of her books from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Book Den, 1328 Highway 50, Suite 305 in Gardnerville.

Delaney lives in Paso Robles, a small town on the California central coast, where she is known as Kathy Koppang.



Her first novel, “Dying for a Change,” sprang from her background in real estate. Her second novel, “Give First Place to Murder,” is about murder at a small county fair Arabian horse show.

Drum event seeks artists

The third annual Drum the Art Epic, Drum III: Reno Renaissance is calling for artists and vendors of all disciplines and cultures. Drum III is scheduled July 16 as part of the 10th annual Artown festival July 1-31 hosted by the city of Reno.

Bantu Spirit, Sierra Arts, Laurence Veoume Yarbrough with the Riverside Artists, and local and regional artists will focus on the Downtown Reno Riverwalk Arts District encompassing a full day of art, poetry, music and fun.

Drum III will open with a dramatic unified drum rhythm followed by African dance. For more information or to participate call (775) 337-1717.
