The Lake Tahoe Windjammers Yacht Club based out of South Lake Tahoe kicks off the summer racing season Wednesday nights with the beer can race series.

Sailboats gather informally on the lake each Wednesday to sail around the club course. For more information, visit http://www.tahoewindjammers.com.

The Douglas County Public Library in Minden and Zephyr Cove will be closed Friday for Independence Day. Both libraries will reopen Saturday – Zephyr Cove at 9 a.m. and Minden at 10 a.m.

Tahoe Turning Point will offer a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the craft fair at the “Y” in the Miller’s Outpost parking lot. The event is coordinated with the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe.

The cost of breakfast is $6 and includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, orange juice, milk or coffee. Proceeds will benefit Tahoe Turning Point, a program for at-risk youth.
