Whittell student wins LTCC art competition

Dan Thrift/Tahoe Daily Tribune/ Best of Show winner at the high school art contest on display at Lake Tahoe Community College was Whittell High School student Emilee Esders with her acrylic "Homeage to David McKean."

Every year Lake Tahoe Community College hosts a high school art show. High schools in the area are invited to participate by having their upperclassmen submit up to two pieces of artwork. This year awards were added, which were presented April 14 during an artists reception at the college.

The show runs through May 6 in the Main Gallery at LTCC.

Winner of the Best of Show was Emilee Esders, a student at George Whittell High School. She received a $100 cash award. Honorable mention went to Sydney Colvin and D.J. Bealskircher, who each received $50 cash.

Participating high schools are:

South Tahoe High School – Randy Long, art instructor.

George Whittell High School – Christine Groman, art instructor.
