Bob Lear, Jeff Higman, Noel Dufty and Simone Aller, from left, share a laugh at the 2004 Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation Gates & Grapes fund-raiser. The 2005 event is scheduled for May 11 at Edgewood Tahoe.

Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation fifth annual “Gates & Grapes” wine and gourmet food tasting will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. May 11 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Club. To help build the scholarship fund for the youth of the foundation, The Cork & More and Nephew’s Restaurant are sponsoring the fund-raiser.

The cost is $60 per person. For reservations and more information call the Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation at (530) 541-7354. MasterCard, Visa or a check will hold reservations.

Guests will have an opportunity to taste premium wines, sample gourmet foods and bid on exciting live and silent auction items. Restaurants are Nephele’s, The Cork & More, Café Fioré, Evans, Mirabell and Kilanis. Featured wineries include Caymus, Steele Wines, Silver Oak Cellars, Mi Sueno Winery, Kim Crawford Wines, Woodenhead Cellars, Grgich Hills Cellar, Macchia Winery, Etude Wines, Mumm Napa Valley, Robert Talbott Vineyards and Prager Port Works.

Through the success of last year’s event the foundation was able to offer scholarships for several young athletes that allowed them to train and compete both locally and nationally. In the spirit of helping youth, everyone is invited to attend this wonderful event, enjoy the evening and help continue building this very important scholarship endowment fund. It is an investment in the future and will benefit youth for many years to come. Everyone is encouraged to make reservations early as tickets are limited and the event is expected to sell out.
