Young women recognized

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe presented its Young Women of Distinction awards at a recent luncheon.

This award is given to high school senior girls who exemplify high achievement, academic excellence and community service.

The young women are chosen by their high school counselors and teachers and honored by Soroptimist International yearly. Each young woman was presented a certificate of achievement and a “Live Your Dreams” Soroptimist pin. The luncheon was attended by the students, their parents, school counselors and both high school principals.

South Tahoe High School chose eight outstanding young women from their senior class and George Whittell High School selected four.

Recipients from South Tahoe High are Christina Bagdikian, Katherine Camacho, Sara-Fay Katz, Ali Martinez, Rita McKeon, Sarah Payne, Ashley Rumble and Elise Solita.

Recipients from Whittell High are Joan Browne, Katherine Chambers, Cristin Seppa and Cyndi Villaseca.
