The legacy of Lou Reed lives on at Crystal Bay Casino

South Shore’s the Sierra Drifters bring their tribute to Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground to the North Shore this week.

The four-piece band will play a set of original sonngs and a second set of Lou Reed and Velvet Underground songs at a free show on Friday. The show represents the band’s Crystal Bay Casino Red Room debut.

The Drifters includes Chris Seal (guitar, harmonica and vocals), Andy Hatch (guitar, mandolin and vocals), Nate Alcorn (upright bass and vocals) and Ryan Kronenberg (drums).

The group has been together for more than a year. Their original songs blend rock, Americana and bluegrass.

The Sierra Drifters has paid tribute to Reed at previous shows. Their repertoire to the late songwriter includes a rootsy Americana take on the Velvet Underground classic “I’m Waiting for the Man.”

Other notable Lou Reed and the Velvet Undergound Songs include “Sunday Morning,” “Venus in Furs,” “Pale Blue Eyes,” “Walk on the Wild side” and “White Light/White Heat.”
