Dr. Seuss meets bluegrass Thursday night in Truckee

One Grass Two Grass Red Grass Bluegrass is set to deliver some hard-driving, fun-loving, old-timey, new-timey, good-timey California bluegrass Thursday night at the popular Truckee restaurant.

The band features Anthony “The Tooth” Dente on fiddle; Tim Parr on guitar; Nick Marcantonio on bass; and Carson Hunter on banjo.

According to a biography on the band’s website, Dente, a Pennsylvania native, began his fiddle career on the banks of Oakland Calif, and hasn’t looked back ever since.

Parr, meanwhile, grew up wandering responsibly the banks of California. From the high tech ghetto, he scraped his way against all odds to persevere and pursue a life of six-string enlightenment.

Marcantonio plays the stand-up bass — not a bass, as in the fish.

“From stadium gigs to campfire jams, Nick lays down the heavy bass lines that we all follow. Recently married, he won’t be accepting any applications,” the bio reads.

As for Hunter, he’s a “child prodigy picker” who has spent most of his adult life horse whispering salmon in the deep dark waters of Alaska.

“Born on the Bayou of Northern California and raised by the crocodiles of Florida, this ‘banjo’ picker has speed and accuracy usually found in processor chips,” according to the bio.
