Little Free Bookshelf expands to Tahoe’s Connection for Families

Tahoe’s Connection for Families now has a Little Free Bookshelf in the parenting education room.

The purpose of the Little Free Bookshelf is to strengthen a sense of community among its members by promoting the act of sharing, trust and respect.

The first Little Free Bookshelf in Incline Village was established in November at Incline Elementary School by Audrey Hartye, a Parasol AmeriCorps member, in order to initiate that vision with some of the youngest and most inspired members of our community. It has been an enormous success with students and their families.

Expanding the Little Free Bookshelf to TCF was a joint effort among Hartye, TCF and advocates within the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation. TCF provides an equitable location for the second station of the Little Free Library, as it interacts with a diverse population of families within Incline Village.

TCF, a nonprofit parenting education and early childhood developmental center, provides an array of services to families, from childcare to parenting education, all with income-adjusted fee schedules.
