The Lake Tahoe Dance Festival returns to the North Shore this week.
The second annual festival gets underway with a Tuesday night gala followed by main stage performances July 16 and 17. The main stage performances include educational talks beforehand.
“Main Stage performances will feature works by modern dance pioneer Erick Hawkins, and contemporary choreographers Bryan Arias, Deborah Lohse, and Deborah Wingert,” according to a press release for the event. “Guest dancers will include Bryan Arias, powerhouse dancer previously with Nederlands Dance Theatre and Kidd Pivot, a Canadian-based contemporary dance company; Kristina Berger, formerly with Erick Hawkins Dance, performing an historic, rarely seen Hawkins work, Greek Dreams; Christin Hanna, formerly New Chamber Ballet, founding Artistic Director of Tahoe Youth Ballet and Dance Theatre of San Francisco’s Vincent Chavez, Jamielyn Duggan and Christopher Dunn.”
Founded and directed by Christin Hanna and Constantine Baecher, the Lake Tahoe Dance Festival is a project of Tahoe Youth Ballet. The ballet’s mission is to present state-of-the-art professional dance and dance instruction at North lake Tahoe.
Tickets to the July 15 Gala Opening are $55. Main stage performances on July 16 and 17 are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
