North Tahoe crime logs: Man mistakes child’s toy as government-controlled drone, smashes it

Below are select incidents from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office press log for July 1-3

July 1

At 1:30 a.m. on the 1000 Block of West Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, a male subject was pulled over for speeding through a construction zone. The subject appeared intoxicated and was turned over to California Highway Patrol for DUI.

At 11 a.m. on the 800 Block of National Avenue in Tahoe Vista, an unknown suspect shot a BB gun at a screen door and broke the window.

At 11:30 a.m. on the 19000 Block of West River Street in Truckee, a male subject was arrested for burglary, which occurred on June 30.

At 4:30 p.m. on Highway 89 at Cathedral Drive in Tahoe City, a female was taken into protective custody for extreme intoxication.

At 6 p.m. on the 6700 Block of West Lake Boulevard in Tahoma, two males were involved in physical altercation. One male became confrontational and it was determined he was unable to care for himself. He was booked for public intoxication.

At 6:45 p.m. on the 1900 Block of Squaw Valley Road in Olympic Valley, a male subject was cited and released on a Placer County warrant.

July 2

At 2:30 a.m. on Chipmunk Street at Speckled Avenue in Kings Beach, a male subject was turned over to California Highway Patrol for suspected DUI.

At 4:30 a.m. on Rainbow at Secline Street in Kings Beach, a male subject was arrested for public intoxication.

At 9:30 a.m. on the 19000 Block of West River Street in Truckee, a resident claimed an unknown male subject attacked him with a pipe and hit him on the head and legs. The suspect fled the scene.

At 9 a.m. on the 2700 Block of West Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, an unknown suspect stole $450 worth of construction tools from a job site.

At 6:45 p.m. on the 100 Block of West Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City, a male subject was cited and released on a Place County warrant.

July 3

At 3 a.m. on Coon Street at Golden Avenue in Kings Beach, a male subject was turned over to California Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI and violation of probation.

At 6:45 p.m. on Deer Street at Steelhead Avenue in Kings Beach, a male subject was turned over to California Highway Patrol for suspected DUI.

At 9 p.m. on the 3100 Block of Edgewater Drive in Tahoe City, a male subject was issued a citizen’s arrest for felony vandalism. The suspect smashed a juvenile’s video camera-mounted remote control helicopter. The suspect stated he thought it was a government-controlled drone that was spying on him.

At 9:30 p.m. on the 7600 Block of North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe Vista, an unknown suspect hit victim 10 times in the face and fled. The suspect was never located.

At 10:30 p.m. on the 8600 Block of North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach, a male subject was taken into protective custody for public intoxication.

At 10:45 p.m. on Fox Street at Golden Avenue in Kings Beach, a male and female were both arrested for public intoxication.

At 11 p.m. at Skyview at Tahoe Park Heights in Tahoe City, a male subject was taken into protective custody for extreme intoxication.

At 11:30 p.m. on Clearview at Skyline Drive in Tahoe City, a male subject was turned over to California Highway Patrol for suspected DUI.

At 11:45 p.m. on Highway 28 at Granite Road in Tahoe Vista, a male subject was turned over for suspected DUI.
