Ski Run Marina manager Matt Williamson, middle, was honored by both the Lake Tahoe Marina Association and the U.S. Coast Guard on Thursday for helping rescue nine people from a capsized boat last August. Williamson personally pulled several people out of the water during the incident, including one woman trapped underneath the overturned vessel. For his actions, he received the LTMA’s first safety award, as well as an award from the U.S. Coast Guard. “We’re here to honor a man who didn’t just do things by word… but did it by action,” said Chief Daniel Polhemus, of the U.S. Coast Guard Tahoe Station. “And there are nine people who are able to go home to their family members and continue on with their happy lifestyle because of his actions.”
