TRUCKEE, Calif. — Brooke Bentley, Julie Huck, and Donna Wood, Truckee residents and the owners of La Galleria, Gratitudes Gifts and White Buffalo, announced they will partner with the town of Truckee for First Friday in celebration of Earth Day. On April 6, 5-8 p.m., each store will hand out complimentary blue recycle bags and green yard bags courtesy of the town of Truckee. Additionally, in recognition of Earth Day, which is April 22, each store will serve as an electronic drop-off location for cell phones, household batteries, laptops and computer accessories, such as keyboards and mice.
“Donna, Julie, and I are excited to help promote recycling in our community. We live in an amazing area that needs to be preserved and as business owners we know we have a responsibility to keep our waste minimal. The blue bag program makes it easy for us to contribute on a daily basis and recycling programs, such as the one offered through the town of Truckee, remind everyone how important it is to be consistent and continue the recycling process,” said Bentley.
The partnership between the Town and the merchants is a way to help promote the Keep Truckee Green philosophy. Town of Truckee Recycling Coordinator Nicole Dorr said, “It is a great opportunity to further educate people on the free recycling programs that are offered in our area year round.”
Get blue and green bags and a jump start on spring clean up this First Friday. Each person who participates in the small electronics drop off/collection will receive a 20 percent off coupon to all three stores. The collection will begin on April 6 and run through April 22.
