Police: Smoke above Truckee/Tahoe from fire in Tehama County

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Smoke in the air throughout the region is from the Panther fire in Tehama County north of the Truckee area, officials said

The smoke is being carried by gusty winds from the north into the basin, according to a Friday press release from the Truckee Police Department.

More information on this fire can be found on the Cal-Fire website here.

“Truckee Police reminds residents and visitors to be fire wise with the upcoming fire season,” according to the press release. “With our dry winter and early fire season, it is never too early to start preparing for fire season.”

More information can be found here and the Truckee Fire Protection District website.
