Geechy Guy will bring his act to Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room on July 31.
A record-holding comedian, Geechy Guy was invited to San Francisco in the late ‘80s to compete in the prestigious Comedy Competition, where he finished in the top 10 out of 500 comics for two consecutive years, according to a statement from promoters. He then headed to Los Angeles, where he secured a spot on TV’s “Star Search,” and went on to set the record for the most appearances by a comedian. Geechy Guy also earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records in August 1993 after telling 676 jokes in an hour.
He went on to make more than 75 appearances on national TV, including three on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” While touring the country as the opening act for the legendary “Righteous Brothers,” which did 200 shows in four years, he moved to Las Vegas in 1996. Three years, more than 25 casinos and several cruise ships later, Guy took a yearlong offer to star in “Nightbeat” in Reno, Nev. Geechy Guy also had appearance on “The Bob & Tom Show,” CBS This Morning,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Late, Late Show” with Craig Ferguson. He also made it to the quarter finals on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and was named 2011 Comedian of the Year by Las Vegas Weekly magazine.
