Experience spiritual healing, meditative music at Tahoe

TAHOE/TRUCKEE — Want to take part in an evening of chanting and lifting your soul’s divine energy?

Emily Tessmer of Orenda Blu and her four-piece band guide you through chants from around the world to move you in ways you may not have experienced before. Presented by and at the Center for Spiritual Living Tahoe Truckee in Tahoe City, this concert is on Friday, Aug. 16, from 7-8:30 p.m.

The angelic vocal tapestries of Emily Tessmer of Orenda Blu Music are fragrant with echoes of the divine. Weaving pop melodies, world instrumentation and chanting from indigenous cultures, Emily creates a universe of emotion while gently caressing the listener with her soothing voice.

Her music is ideal for meditation and reaching higher levels of consciousness. She is a Tahoe-Truckee local. Band members are Chris Ballard on bass, Kevin Ladd on guitars, Julie Collier on flute and background vocals, and a surprise guest drummer. They are from the Spiritual Center for Positive Living in Cameron Park near Sacramento. Together they are Orenda Blu.

Tickets are $20 pre-sale or $25 at the door, and are available at the Center for Spiritual Living Tahoe Truckee, upstairs in the Tahoe City Marina Building, 700 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, 530-581-5117.

Orenda Blu’s first release, distributed by Paradise Music of the UK, received the silver medal for Best Inner Space/Meditation/Healing Music of 2012 by the Coalition of Visionary Resources and has been mentioned on Public Radio International’s program “Echoes” as being in the top 25 best albums during the month of February 2013.

Emily is currently working on her second release for Paradise Music which will feature chanting from Japan, New Zealand, The Cherokee and Lakota nations, and other world cultures. Hailing from the pristine Sierra Nevada, Emily joyfully teaches music to the children in her community, plays festivals, yoga studios and spiritual centers and is ever grateful for the music that sustains and protects her down the sacred path of her art.

Founded in 1986, the Center for Spiritual Living Tahoe Truckee is a spiritual community dedicated to empowering individuals to discover an inner power that has the ability to transform their lives and make the world a better place.
