Resort at Squaw Creek hires veteran sales, marketing chief

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The executive team at Resort at Squaw Creek, a Destination Hotels & Resorts property, announced the addition of new Director of Sales and Marketing Larry Colton.

Colton will oversee the sales and marketing team, conference and catering team, as well as the reservations staff.

With more than 20 years of director-level experience, Colton most recently held tenure at Pointe Hilton Resorts in Phoenix, Ariz. where he served as area director of sales and marketing. Colton achieved the highest group RevPAR Index (RPI) ever at each of the properties under his leadership. He also served as director of sales and marketing at the Pointe South Mountain Resort. In 2006, he led the sales team to be awarded Destination Hotels & Resorts Sales Team of the Year. Colton has held leadership roles at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort and DoubleTree Paradise Valley Resort, Scottsdale, and more.

Colton is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a degree in hotel administration. He is also a Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME).

The 405 room Resort at Squaw Creek offers ski-in, ski-out access to Squaw Valley, features more than 33,000 square feet of state-of-the-art indoor meeting space, and 14,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space. In addition, the property features several restaurants highlighting regionally-sourced ingredients, a full-service spa, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed golf course, fly fishing center, pool and hot tub complex and a shopping promenade. During the winter the resort offers an on-property ice rink, Nordic center, dog sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides and ski-in, ski-out access to Squaw Valley Resort.

The resort complements natural surroundings with eco-friendly practices delivered through the Destination Earth program and offers a green meetings program. The golf course is designated as an Audubon Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. No artificial pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are utilized in the caretaking of the course.
