Tahoe City celebrates 150 years with style

The North Shore community of Tahoe City will celebrate 150 years in 2013 with a series of events throughout the Labor Day weekend.

The activities begin 4 p.m. Friday with a reception at Heritage Plaza featuring live music by Chris Bayer and Mr. Spoons.

A pub crawl, guided walking tours, beach activities, paddle events and a dinner cruise are among the activities that follow throughout the weekend. A pancake breakfast, community picnic and music by Locals’ Last Waltz at Commons Beach are planned for Sunday. Docents in historical costumes and history treasure hunts for kids are also part of the expansive celebration.

“The overall focus points of the ‘celebration’ are on building historic awareness, current day recognition and community pride in both the immediate and extended community that Tahoe City so fortunately holds,” according to an event description on www.tahoetopia.com.
