Support youth at Truckee Optimist tree lot

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Truckee Optimist Club will once again be selling Christmas trees this holiday season. There will be a nice selection of locally cut red firs (silvertips) as well as noble and grand fir trees shipped from the club’s grower in Oregon.

The lot will be in its usual location at the Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of Highway 89 and Deerfield Drive.

The Optimist Club wishes to thank SaveMart for generously allowing the use of their parking lot each year and would like to encourage everyone to patronize their store in appreciation for their support of local youth.

Tree sales will begin on Saturday, Nov. 30 and will conclude on Monday, Dec. 23 (or once the last tree is sold).

The tree lot is manned by Truckee Optimist Club members, youth from area schools and teams that benefit from the proceeds, and by other community volunteers.

All profits from the sales of the trees are included in the Truckee Optimist Club annual budget of more than $50,000, which goes directly to youth activities (both educational and recreational), scholarships, and grants for Truckee Youth.

Recipients of club donations include, but are not limited to: high school athletic teams; band; cheerleaders; drama club; Project Graduation; year book; 8 to 10 annual scholarships for graduating seniors; elementary and middle school programs including monies to support field trips; TEMPO music program; team and community programs; community youth activities including Club Scouts, Girl Scouts, KidZone Museum, Civil Air Patrol, Arts For the Schools; and community athletic programs including youth basketball, AYSO soccer, Little League baseball, Buddy Werner race ski program, girls softball, Pop Warner football, and more.
