Moody’s in Truckee starts film festival

Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats will kickoff the 2013-2014 winter season with a new film festival in downtown Truckee on Saturday.

The outdoor festival will include showings of “Backcountry [Snowboarding]” and “Legend of Aahhh’s: A True Fable,” according to an announcement for the event.

“Backcountry” is presented by Burton and features the riding of Jussi Oksanen, Terje Haakonsen, Jeremy Jones, Nicolas Müller, Mikey Rencz and Makr Sollors.

“Legend of Aahhh’s” is filmmaker Greg Stump’s look at the history of ski films and their impact on extreme skiing. Stump is the acclaimed filmmaker behind 1998’s “The Blizzard of Aahhh’s,” as well as numerous other ski flicks.

The showings of the films at Moody’s will benefit the High Fives Foundation, which raises money for athletes that have suffered life-altering injuries.

“We’ll be closing off the street and rolling out the bar, setting up heaters, fire pits and couches,” according to the announcement. “Come get cozy with a warm drink and a hot date!!”
