TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — If you’re a woman over 40, or under 40 with a strong family history of breast cancer, an annual screening mammogram is recommended by the American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology as the best way to detect breast cancer in its early stages. Not every woman, however, has insurance that covers this vital test.
Tahoe Forest Hospital’s Briner Imaging Center is offering a special cash-only screening mammogram for $225. This offer is available for individuals without insurance or who have health plans that do not provide a screening mammogram benefit and includes radiologist supervision, interpretation and mammogram fee.
Mammograms and monthly self-checks are the most effective methods for detecting breast cancer early.
The earlier breast cancer is found, the better the chances treatment will work. A mammogram is a quick and easy procedure performed by a certified mammography technologist and interpreted by a board certified radiologist. A doctor’s order is not required for a screening mammogram. The Briner Imaging Center at Tahoe Forest Hospital offers state-of-the-art digital mammography. Follow up care is available through local physicians.
Physician referrals are not necessary to schedule a mammogram, and most insurance plans are accepted. To schedule call 530-582-6510.
