International delegation visits Tahoe SAFE Alliance

On Memorial Day, an international delegation of nearly 20 people representing countries including Iraq, Bahrain, Libya, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Kuwait, Egypt and Saudi Arabia visited the DWR Center in Incline Village to meet with Paul Bancroft, client services and prevention director at Tahoe SAFE Alliance.

The visitors were participants in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and hosted locally by the Northern Nevada International Center.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the role and work of Tahoe SAFE Alliance and show first-hand the work of organizations providing aid and resources to victims of domestic violence in Nevada.

As experts in the domestic violence field in their respective countries, the delegation wanted to learn about how services are provided and domestic violence organizations are structured in Nevada.

Mr. Bancroft spent nearly 2 hours explaining in detail all of the programs offered by Tahoe SAFE Alliance and answered questions about the domestic violence field in general.

The group was very impressed by the comprehensive services provided by Tahoe SAFE Alliance, especially the Violence Prevention Education Program and the Children’s Therapy Program.

This is the fourth delegation Mr. Bancroft has met with at the request of the Northern Nevada International Center. The other three were from Chile, Kazakhstan and India.
