Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

Well the calendar and the weather seem to be telling us summer is coming to an end at Tahoe. I am sure the rain will end soon and it really is helping us by providing the moisture we need right now. Just plan to enjoy the beach later in August.

We do have lots of events happening around the village this weekend. If the weather does not cooperate, check with all of the outdoor events you plan to attend to see if they have moved to an indoor location or if it will still be held.

The Incline Village Relay for Life is on Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9, at Preston Field. The theme is a Beach Party, so let’s hope we do not see a beach at the field. There is still time to put together a team or just stop at the event. To learn more, go to www.RelayforLife.org/InclineVillageNV or contact Aimee Giller at aimee.giller@cancer.org or 775-828-2210.

On Saturday, Aug. 9, the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center will feature the Northstar Chamber Players with Donna Axton on piano. For information or tickets, email toccatatahoe@gmail.com or call James at 787-602-2121.

Sunday, Aug. 10, is Tahoe’s Connection for Families annual Teddy Bear Picnic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Aspen Grove. This teddy bear extravaganza includes lots of arts and crafts and fun activities for the children. Food and drink can be purchased at the event. And you can still purchase advance tickets for the Carnival in the Truckee Regional Park from Wednesday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 17. Tahoe’s Connection for Families will benefit from a portion of the ticket sales. For information about both events, visit www.tcfkids.org or call 775-832-8230.

The Republican Women invite you to a garden party at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, to meet and greet Dan Schwartz, candidate for Nevada State Treasurer, and Ron Knecht, candidate for Nevada State Controller. To attend, contact Lorri Waldman at memomL@aol.com or call 775-831-8039.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, at Montreux Golf and Country Club, the Women’s Club of North Lake Tahoe will present its annual fashion show, “What to Wear,” from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event includes door prizes, raffles and a silent auction. For information or to purchase tickets visit www.fashionshow.myevent.com or call 775-831-5779 or 775-831-7887.

Tickets can still be purchased for the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation’s 2014 Community Table. The food and wine event is on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Shakespeare Ranch in Glenbrook. Purchase tickets at www.parasol.org/community or call Jean Eick at 775-298-0184.

The annual Dog Day in the Park is Sunday, Sept. 7. It is at the North Tahoe Regional Park. This is a fundraiser for Wyle Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) and is free to attend. For information visit www.tahoeunleashed.com or call Pam at 530-546-4770.

A huge shout-out to Debra and Stu Fishman’s daughter and boyfriend. Thanks for coming to Tahoe for a visit, and we do apologize for the weather. Hopefully you will get some beach time and if not, please come back soon.

Happy anniversary to Bob and Annette Mimiaga. Congratulations!

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Elyse Gut on Aug. 12, Rad Birmingham and Allison Eybel on Aug. 13, Pete Todoroff on Aug. 15, Dee Carey on Aug. 16, and Cathy Jo Johnson on Aug. 17.

The best deal and steal this week is Nine and Wine at the Mountain Course. Play nine holes of golf followed by great wines and enjoy outstanding food. It is a steal!

For information, go to www.golfincline.com or call 775-832-1150.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday to jeanmeick@aol.com.
