Two vehicle wrecks landed two people in the hospital and one more suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon.

The first crash, which involved a 2004 Hyundai sedan and a 2013 Mazda CX-7 SUV, occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Highway 50 east of Lakeshore Boulevard in the area of Zephyr Cove, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper David Gibson said.

Two people involved in the incident, both from Washington state, sustained injuries and were transported to Barton Memorial Hospital, but they had reportedly been released as of Friday morning, Gibson said.

Several lanes were blocked for about 30 minutes on Highway 50 following the incident, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation website.

The second incident occurred at about 5:45 p.m. in the area of Kingsbury Grade Road and Pine Ridge Road. One person reported minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital, Gibson said.

A report was not yet completed as of Friday and it was unclear what caused the crashes, but drugs and/or alcohol were suspected in either of the incidents.
