Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

At last we are starting to enjoy some smoke-free days so locals can get out and participate in our shoulder season. Remember that the Burnt Cedar pool is still open, along with the golf courses, beaches and trails. Plus, winter bowling season begins this week at Bowl Incline. Go enjoy.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the AAUW will host its monthly meeting at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. This will be a meet-and-greet event to welcome new members or prospective members. RSVP for the dinner at $30 per person no later than Monday, Sept. 6, by email to Kelly at kellyleeneville@gmail.com or call Barbara at 989-856-4860.

There is still time to put together a team and bowl in the annual Tahoe Family Solutions Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday, Sept. 28. This event is a fundraiser for TFS as well as lots of fun. For information call 775-298-0004.

Also from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Third Creek Clubhouse, enjoy international hors d’oeuvres and music as well as a drawing sponsored by St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. For raffle ticket information visit www.tahoeepiscopal.org and you do not need to be present to win.

The annual Tahoe Fall Fest is at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Big Water Grille. This is an annual fundraiser for Tahoe’s Connection for Families. For more information about sponsorships contact klhovorka@yahoo.com and for ticket information visit www.tahoefallfest.org or call 775-832-8230.

A presentation about “19th Century Travel and 21st Century Travelers’ is set for Sunday, Oct. 20, at Sierra Nevada College. To learn more about this exciting event from Myths and Mountains visit www.READGlobal.org or to make a reservation now email megan@mythsandmountinas.com or call 775-832-5454.

Happy Anniversary to Franny and Chris Bryan on Sept. 18. Congratulations!

Not too many birthday wishes to send out again this week. Birthdays to celebrate: Holden Cushing on Sept. 12 and Kaelynn Ferguson on Sept. 18. Happy belated as well to Dukaroo Kelley, who celebrated last Friday, Sept. 6. Happy Birthday!

The best deal and steal in the village this week is tonight, Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Changing Lives Nepal is doing a presentation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. — learn more about farming in the remote communities of the Himalayan foothills. Visit www.changinglivesnepal.org for more information.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
