Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

It is so nice to have snow again this week. At least for most of us this is a welcome event. Will this be the year that Mother Nature smiles on Incline Village and dumps on us? Let’s hope beginning in December we see nonstop snowstorms.

The Tahoe Nevada Chapter of AAUW will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. The feature for this month is by Kristin Nelson “From Wall Street to Pilates, One Woman’s Journey in Finding both Success and Personal Health.” The meeting is open to the public but you must RSVP by Monday, Oct. 14. The cost is $30. Email Kelly at Kellyaauw@gmail.com or call 775-762-0463.

We are now into events for Halloween so plan ahead for the community pumpkin carve at SNC from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and of course the big community-wide Trails of Treats and Terror from 4:30-7:30 on Thursday, Oct. 24. The trail is from the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center to the IVGID Recreation Center over to Lake Tahoe School and ends at Sierra Nevada College. All of the locations are already busy decorating and planning to trick and treat the community.

The presentation on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Sierra Nevada College is “19th Century Travel and 21st Century Travelers.” For more information about this event from Myths and Mountains visit www.READGlobal.org or to make a reservation email megan@mythsandmountinas.com or call 775-832-5454.

Save the date for Tuesday, Oct. 22, to attend an informational meeting at 6 p.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center for volunteers interested in helping with the annual Tahoe Community Thanksgiving Celebration. To learn more visit tahoecommunitythanksgiving@gmail.com or call Meera Beser at 775-230-1066.

Congrats to Dave and Linda Delbridge. They won the 110 mph division at the Silver State Classic Challenge from Ely to Las Vegas on Sept 15. They had an average speed of 110.0018 mph in their white Porsche 996 Cabriolet on the 90-mile closed course. Wow!

Hooray we have bowling news this week. Bowl Incline is holding the CCUSBC Men’s Invitational and Women’s City tournament. Walk-ins are welcome and to enter visit www.ccusbc.net for forms. We have some local bowlers that are amazing and fun to watch.

Happy Anniversary on Oct. 5 to Steve and Claudia Andersen.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Cookie Steinberg on Oct. 16; and Jim Glazier and Amanda Gray on Oct. 17. Happy Birthday!

The best deal and steal in the Village this week is at Village Meats. Eric’s homemade jalapeno/jack cheese sausages are spicy and tasty and will warm you up for sure!

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
