North Lake Tahoe Truckee community announcements

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Content is selected from e-mail submissions to Community Editor Amy Edgett at aedgett@sierrasun.com. Send the 5w’s: who, what, when, where and why, about 100-175 words.

Got Drugs?

Since 2010 Tahoe-Truckee has collected and disposed of more than 784 pounds of prescription medications to help prevent youth drug abuse and the contamination of waterways. Drop off your unneeded or expired medications safely, conveniently and confidentially at the free Rx Medication Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Gateway Shopping Center Truckee, in front of Safeway and The Old Fire Station in Tahoe City, 300 North Lake Blvd. (above Common’s Beach). Please mark out personal info on Rx bottles. Help protect our water supply by not flushing medications. Help protect our community as some may be abusing drugs taken from the medicine cabinets of family and friends.

A collaborative effort of the TT-FWDD (Tahoe-Truckee Future without Drug Dependence) Coalition, Placer County Sheriff, Placer and Nevada County Health and Human Services, Truckee Police Department, Tahoe Forest Hospital District, Safeway Stores, water quality and waste management, town of Truckee, and the DEA.
