Hyatt Regency to host job fair

Talented and enthusiastic individuals sought for seasonal winter positions, Thursday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & Casino, 111 Country Club Drive, Incline Village. Incline High School’s annual Turkey Shoot

All proceeds are a fundraiser for the Incline High School varsity air rifle team. At this event, participants shoot for a chance to win a turkey. Cost for the public is $10 dollars a ticket, community members are invited to shoot Friday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Student and staff days are Monday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 26. AAUW to meet, collect for MANA

The Tahoe Nevada Chapter of American Association of University Women meets the third Wednesdays for dinner at the Parasol Building, 948 Incline Way, Incline Village. This meeting is open to the public. Cost of the dinner, catered by Gina and Jim Poulos of Crosby’s, is $30 per person. Social hour is 5:30-6:30 p.m., with dinner and program 6:30-8:30 p.m. AAUW is a nonprofit organization with a focus on advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Join them Wednesday, Nov. 20 for speaker Carla Higginbotham, Esq., U.S. District Attorney. Higginbotham specializes in prosecuting juvenile sex trafficking cases. Recent laws have changed to address these crimes, however much remains to be done and you can help within your community. In addition, the membership will conduct a food drive to benefit Project MANA with a collection barrel for donations of non-perishable foods. Boys & Girls Club needs turkeys

The annual Community Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe needs your help. They serve 800 community members a traditional Thanksgiving meal with the help of the Ritz-Carlton and charitable donors like you. Donate a 25-30 pound turkey by Monday, Nov. 18. Nov. 1-30, Display areas and art cases: Remembering the Assassination of John F. Kennedy. Online resource of the month: JobNow. A revolutionary service for job seekers that features expert resume assistance, live interview preparation and career coaching. The Adult Learning Center offers test preparation, an expert writing lab, and online tutors. JobNow provides you with practical tools to help you get a job. Through Nov. 25, Food for Fines at the Library: Helping to Feed the Hungry Washoe County Library System is proud to partner again with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Project MANA for the annual “Food for Fines at the Library” event. Take one non-perishable food item for every overdue book or other item. (Food cannot be exchanged for lost or damaged library materials). Everyone is welcome to participate. Nov. 14, 6:30-8 p.m. Film screening: “Islamic Art: Mirror of the Invisible World.” Sierra Nevada College art history professor Hannah Slater presents the film “Islamic Art: Mirror of the Invisible World,” narrated by Susan Sarandon. This is part of the NEH/ALA Bridging Cultures/Muslim Journeys grant program. Nov. 16, noon-2 p.m. “International Games Day @ your Library.” Get your board game on! Light refreshments provided. Winners will receive prizes. All ages welcome. Nov. 20, 4-4:45 p.m., Thanksgiving Story Time. Read stories, make crafts and enjoy treats. Children of all ages are welcome at story time. Nov. 21, 6-7:30 p.m. College Admissions Today: Fact v. Fiction. Join professionals from Buckley Education Group for an all-access backstage pass to college admissions. Nov. 22, 4-5 p.m. Guide Dogs @ the Library. Meet members and their dogs from Eyes for Tomorrow Guide Dog Puppy Raising Club of Washoe County. Find out more about what guide dogs do and get some tips on getting started raising dogs to help the visually impaired. All ages welcome. Help young readers

Are you looking to make a difference? Incline Middle School is looking for people like you to help with its one-on-one reading program. All you need is a half hour per week and a desire to help a child become a better reader. Reading is Monday through Friday, with the exception of Wednesdays, 11:49 a.m.-12:22 p.m. If you are interested, call Liz Harrell at 775-832-4220 or email lharrell@washoeschools.net.

Brunch with Santa Claus

Join in the fun on Saturday, Dec. 14 for a festive brunch with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and his elves. Held at the Chateau at Incline Village, this family event features many fun activities including a delicious brunch, a magic show, arts and crafts, raffle prizes, a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus and much more.
