Village Notes: What’s happening in our community

I hate to be the one to say this, but football season is almost over. The “Big Game,” of course, is just around the corner. Looks like this could be the year for some outdoor tailgating before the game. Remember that Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and many offices and businesses will be closed. The IVGID Administrative Office is closed, as is the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation office.

Mark Twain will be appearing on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center. This appearance will feature Mark Twain’s Letters from Hawaii. To make reservations, email mcavoylayne@gmail.com or call 775-833-1835.

Its time for the annual Incline High School Booster Club Crab Feed at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom. This event always sells out so grab your tickets now. Tickets are available at www.inclinecrabfeed.com or the Potlatch.

Don’t forget the annual Father/Daughter dance on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Tahoe Biltmore sponsored by Tahoe SAFE Alliance and the Tahoe Biltmore. Tickets are available at www.tahoesafealliance.org or call 775-298-0010.

Interested in being a host site for Parasol’s AmeriCorps program? Fill out one of the applications for AmeriCorps Host Sites for 2014-2015. To learn more about host sites or to fill out the application visit www.parasol.org or call Allison at 775-298-0186.

Let the bowling begin. The Seniors Tourney will be on Saturday, Jan. 25, and Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Gold Dust West in Carson City. If you are a senior and interested in participating check at Bowl Incline. Fans can just show up at the tourney and watch our great locals in action.

Birthdays to celebrate this week: Penelope Nelson on Jan. 18, JoAn Hagy on Jan. 19, and North Lake Tahoe Bonanza Publisher Michael Gelbman. Happy Birthday.

The best deal and steal this week is to pick up all the supplies for Super Bowl Sunday at Dress the Part(y) in the Village Center. Great surprises and deals for the party season.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
