Village Notes: What’s happening in Incline Village

I guess we need to start over and have Pray for Snow parties again. Maybe we can turn our Super Bowl Party into one large Pray for Snow Party. We are definitely in need of the white stuff and at this point anything is going to help. Any plans for parties at the beach to offer up to the snow maker let me know and I will be sure we can get the village out for the event.

Since Tahoe’s weather is almost like Hawaii’s this winter, be sure to check out the Mark Twain presentation on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Mark Twain Cultural Center and Toccata Guttman Music Hall in the Village Center. McAvoy Layne will feature Mark Twain’s Letters from Hawaii. To make reservations go to mcavoylayne@gmail.com or call 775-833-1835.

And the annual Incline High School Booster Club Crab Feed is at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, in the Hyatt Regency Ballroom. Hurry and get your tickets as this event always sells out. Tickets are available at www.inclinecrabfeed.com or the Potlatch.

Also, the annual Father/Daughter dance is on Friday, Feb. 7, at the Tahoe Biltmore sponsored by Tahoe SAFE Alliance and the Tahoe Biltmore. Tickets are available at www.tahoesafealliance.org or call 775-298-0010.

Organizations interested in being a host site for Parasol’s AmeriCorps program should fill out one of the applications for AmeriCorps Host Sites for 2014-2015 now. To learn more about host sites or to fill out the application visit www.parasol.org or call Allison at 775-298-0186.

Coming up on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Gold Dust West in Carson City is the annual Seniors Tourney for local bowlers. If you are a senior and interested in participating check at Bowl Incline. If you want to participate as a fan, just head to the Gold Dust West and cheer on our locals.

No birthdays to celebrate this week. I happen to know that is not true but some of the people celebrating want to remain anonymous. So Happy Birthday, Anonymous.

The best deal and steal this week is to attend Ullrfest. Friday, Jan. 25, is the annual Torchlight Parade and bonfire. For information go to wwww.dpsef.org or the Diamond Peak website.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news, along with the best deals or steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
