Truckee agencies distribute carbon monoxide and smoke detectors

TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee Police, Truckee Fire and the town of Truckee Building Department personnel recently went door-to-door distributing carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in several local mobile home parks.

Det. Arnie Lopez and Fire Prevention Officer Paul Spencer, along with Chief Building Official Johnny Goetz, visited each mobile home in the parks.

Of the more than 125 residences visited, only five had working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. The Town and Fire District provided 130 carbon monoxide detectors and more than 350 smoke detectors to the residents.

This program is part of the Fire District and Town’s goal to make available to all residents these life-saving devices. Det. Lopez and Prevention Officer Spencer also gave tips on fire safety, carbon monoxide safety, and the need to regularly change batteries in these devices.

If you need a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector, please stop by any Truckee Fire station or the Town Building Department at Town Hall.
